Stitch and Knit was established in August 2019 by myself and my partner Chris.
My name is Julia and I have worked in retail and the rag trade since leaving school in 1980! I have always been passionate about sewing and patchwork and all kinds of crafting, gaining my City and Guilds in Patchwork and Quilting and working for John Lewis for many years.
My dream was to open my own haberdashery shop on the high street with old fashioned values and service but up to date merchandising and stock availability.
Chris wanted to make sure that Stitch and Knit was as environmentally friendly as possible with as little plastic and waste and as much recycling as we can achieve. With this in mind we only use paper bags or tissue to wrap our fabrics and all empty cardboard is either recycled or reused in the shop.
We are introducing recycled ribbon and thread and supply a good selection of 100% recycled cotton yarn, we look into any new lines and suppliers ensuring production and sustainability is viable.
Chris and I both love being part of the local community and meeting new people, we have a varied choice of workshops for all skill levels and ages and love welcoming new faces into our shop.
Sewing and Crafting has helped me through some difficult times and interaction with like minded people has been a blessing, knitting, crochet and sewing in particular are known to help with mindfulness and positive thinking.
We are now looking to expand with our website but to still uphold our standards and customer service values.
Thank you for visiting our website and we look forward to seeing you at Stitch and Knit
